Project Justification: The issue of insecurity has affected the lives of the people of Northeast Nigeria especially, Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states which has lasted more than a decade, though it is now subsiding. IDPs are now returning to their ancestral homes, but their return is faced with another great danger which has affected some of them. These dangers are the contamination of explosives ordnance which is caused by the war between the non-state and the Nigerian Army. As a result of these incidences, various non-governmental organizations deem it necessary to intervene to reduce the number of casualties and risks attached to EO incidences. Borno state has been selected by the European Union in collaboration with UNMAS to implement EORE in some selected LGAs that are most vulnerable.

Project Objectives: The objectives of the project are to:

  • Implement a KAPB survey  so as to ascertain the level of awareness of beneficiaries on EOs
  • Map out communities that are most vulnerable to EOs contamination
  • Carry out EORE sessions and mentoring in the selected communities.
  • Record Hazardous Areas
  • Record and refer EO survivors

EORE Report

INEAED was able to reach out to 6824 Beneficiaries in the two LGAs (Konduga: Auno and Njimtilo) and (MMC: Bulabulin Ngaranam and Bulabulin Malumti). These activities were achieved through the trained community facilitators and the monitoring of the EORE instructors and M&E department. Beneficiaries were reached and sensitized in their communities using the IEC materials that were provided to the Consortium by the Donor and at the end of the sensitization, the beneficiaries were given leaflets for better comprehension and extension of the EORE message to their loved ones who were not sensitized directly.
